Welcome to Hatchmoor Farm

Hatchmoor Farm is a family owned and run 140 hectare beef farm, located within the South Downs National Park, just outside of Petersfield, Hampshire.  The herd comprises 140 Elite Health Status, pedigree Stabiliser™ beef suckler cows.  We are passionate about cows, the Stabiliser™ breed  and sustainable farming. It is a privilege to be carrying on a family farming tradition that dates back to the 1940’s.

Hatchmoor Farm is run by Pete and Mel Momber, together with their son Matt, who is the 4th generation to farm here.  The farm was originally bought by Peter’s grandfather after the Second World War; with  Frank and Phil Momber running the farm from the 1970’s till 2009, the family have farmed here for nearly 80 years!

Breeding Stabiliser™ cattle is our passion and the main focus of this farming enterprise.  We aim to run an efficient, sustainable business to provide breeding stock for other farms and to ensure that British Beef will be enjoyed by all who want it, for years to come.

To do this we have focused on getting the basics right, starting  with our soils, grassland, herd  health  and by utilising the Stabiliser™ genetics.  Inputs are kept to a minimum by ensuring a good percentage of clover in all grassland and making use of FYM, which helps improve the soils. Grass production is optimized by paddock grazing.

The herd  has Elite Health Status for IBR, Lepto, BVD and Johne’s.  By following a careful breeding plan, using top Stabiliser™ genetics, we have a very efficient, low maintenance, easy calving, quiet herd that converts grass well.

We always aim to make use of local contractors and suppliers wherever possible to support the local economy.
